New Henry coming out -- 410 AXE
Re: New Henry coming out -- 410 AXE
Seems like a great idea for a home defense gun as well. There are some very nice home defense 410 options available today. The 410 is getting more popular as well. Especially for people that aren't 'shooters' as the 410 is easy to handle for many people.

I’m really thinking of buying one. I actually suggested to Henry they make one. I also asked them to make a .410/.22WMR over and under.

I like it. Never thought twice about a ML, however, in that caliber, in blue, with side gate would carry very well up the mountain on my 4 wheeler.
Wonder what MSRP will be?

I sure wish they’d make this in an All Weather version.
I showed the information on Henry’s website to my wife this morning. She loved it asked how soon we can get one.

In Michigan you can purchase a shotgun with an 18" barrel and a pistol grip but must be processed as a pistol when purchased so I don't think the Axe would be allowed here since the barrel is too short.
Re: New Henry coming out -- 410 AXE
I live in Michigan also and I’m fairly sure they are listed as PGO Shotguns (Pistol Grip Only Shotguns) just as my Remington Tac 14 is listed as a “firearm”. Federal law states a pistol has to have a rifled barrel. A PGO shotgun is listed as a AOW by federal law. All the laws of going out of the standard pistol, rifle, and shotguns really get confusing sometimes. It’s like you have to look at what it isn’t before you can decide what it is.

These are awesome looking little shotguns! I am buying one for sure. I heard or at least my dealer will be around $740. Pricey.....yes. But some people spend upwards to $50k plus on cars from the 60's!

I have tried to buy one but none are available on the local market.

Yikes! $740 for about 26" of what amounts to a Mare's leg .410!I heard or at least my dealer will be around $740. Pricey.....yes.
That amount or less will buy a lot of other guns - including some classics that will retain or rise in value.
Realistically this 'Axe' (more like a pen knife) should not retail for more Than about $300.00 (comparing it to a Mossberg Shockwave which is a 12 gauge)

Like I have said, seen people spend voluminous amounts of money on other trivial things. To each their own.

Does the smooth bore allow 2 1/2" .410 slugs?

BrokenolMarine posted a good video about the Axe: http://henryrifleforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=8533
Should answer your Q (at stream point 4 min 30 secs) along with other specs/facts about the gun.

I tend to agree and they even make a 410 version if that's what ya want.Mistered wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 9:11 amYikes! $740 for about 26" of what amounts to a Mare's leg .410!I heard or at least my dealer will be around $740. Pricey.....yes.

Heck, for the price of the Henry you can get Two Shockwaves.
Twice the fun. And I'll bet you can empty the SW a lot faster also.
But as to quote mtsheron also.
