This past year of sidegates feels to me like Henry is approaching this design change in their line up slowly for business reasons. Testing the waters if you will.bandit1250 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 4:51 pmI am wondering why I would ever need something like that for any reason. I think there would be better new things to bring out. Add a couple pistol grip models to go with all those straight grip rifles they have now. I want a case colored pistol grip 35 Remington. Prefer octagon but would take a round barrel.Mistered wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 2:07 pmSame here.that's a model I wouldn't have anticipated
I can hardly imagine something like this would have more requests to be produced than say, a side gate PC rifle/carbine.
It would be interesting to see a listing of submitted requests for designs and the number for each.![]()

Re: New Henry coming out
Being a .410 shotgun could it cycle a .45 Colt in a pinch? Wouldn't need rifling for short distances which is what it's for.

I like the idea, but where's the rest of it?
Also, do I see both? A Side Gate and a Mag Tube?

I think there would be better new things to bring out.
Ditto on both!I am wondering why I would ever need something like that for any reason.
I would like to see something like one of the new side load models in a 24-26" octagon barrel with a pistol grip style stock similar to the WInchester 'Deluxe' - or later called the 'Legacy'. Then my interest would be piqued.
Even better it it were in .25-35 !

Re: New Henry coming out
Not necessarily.Being a .410 shotgun could it cycle a .45 Colt in a pinch?
Unless the gun is designed to fire both I would NOT do it.
The bore diameter of a .410 shotgun is , well .410 - and a .45 Colt round is .451.
Also if the choke is tight (like full) the bullet would most likely jam.
It HAS been done but it is NOT recommended.

Ive also seen people wanting single shots in 45 Colt. It will be interesting to see if any new models are coming out for the shot show.

This one won't sell in CA or Mass. Barrel is too short, illegal there.

Re: New Henry coming out
I have the mossberg shockwave in 12 gauge just for the truck and the polaris Ranger utv. Perfect for putting down suspected rabid "nuisance" critters as the fish and game folks call them here. (Skunk, possum, etc.). No season, no permits required. I might be of a mind to add that lil guy to the safe. Miss T might like it. She has a Mossberg 410 she likes already, but that compact would be a good fit on the tractor as well if a coyote popped up.

If I did pick one up, I would probably make a scabbard for it to fit the Ranger, or... Just tuck it in the seat back like we do the Shockwave.

That looks like a serious critter gun, that's for sure. Not much use for us suburbanites, but if I were out there on some wild acreage, that'd be just the ticket.

Re: New Henry coming out
Here on the farm, we've run across fox, racoons, possums, bobcat, coyotes, bear, deer, feral dogs/cats... All but the deer would raid both the chicken coop or the bunny hutch. The fox, bobcat, coyote, bear, and feral dogs could all make quick work of the 15 pound Westie if they caught her outside the electric mesh fence, or mom's watchful eye.
The bobcat and bear sightings are fairly rare... Mountain Lions have been seen in the county, and we have seen their tracks, twice. No actual mountain lions. (Cougars?)
Yup, the Axe might come in handy.

I have the 20 ga. shockwave and with the streamlight makes a nice "bump in the night" bedside gun along with carrying in my woods.BrokenolMarine wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2019 10:20 pmI have the mossberg shockwave in 12 gauge just for the truck and the polaris Ranger utv. Re: New Henry coming out
the only ammo Henry mentions for use in their new AXE is 2 1/2" .410 shellsfortyshooter wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 5:06 pmBeing a .410 shotgun could it cycle a .45 Colt in a pinch? Wouldn't need rifling for short distances which is what it's for.

Re: New Henry coming out
I like the fact that it doesn't have the brass receiver like the new SG full size.
Wish it was a 3" chamber, I like it ok. I can see some uses, none for me at the present.
Now, ifn ya....
Take that receiver slap a 18" barrel and a pistol grip buttstock, that would be sexy. 3" chamber

I think that the problem with using three inch shells is that they are too long to feed using the standard lever action insides.
