My dad's first P51, a B model, sits somewhere on the bottom of the North Sea after he was forced to bail out returning from a mission deep into German territory. He managed to make it near a British minesweeper before he bailed out and they circled back and picked him up. I always give gracious and heartfelt thanks to any Brit Sailor I meet since if it weren't for them, I wouldn't be here!
