Re: New Revolver
Good for you on the 44 Special. Have always thought it to be an under-appreciated cartridge. I have a lot of respect for any cartridge that leaves a big hole.

Re: New Revolver
Pretty gun, the big bores are impressive from the front too. Not to be forgotten in a carry piece.

Re: New Revolver
Nice one Jake! Ruger builds them beefy so you should be able to handle top end .44 Special loads!

Re: New Revolver
Loaded some 200 gr Nosler over 15.6 IMR4227, Starline brass and WLP primers. We'll see how they do at the range.

Re: New Revolver
I put this here because I didn't take any pics of the targets I used so not really a "range report". I did go this morning and shot my .357 Vaquero (very nicely), some 45 ACP with the P220 (so-so) and then shot 50 rounds with the Ruger 45 long colt. All targets were shot at 15 yards. I loaded it with 250 gr XTP over 20.6 gr IMR 4227. I could tell I was shooting something special after 50 rounds (I should have been wearing my shooting glove that I had in my bag, doh!). It has a lot more kick to it than the 45 ACP's I shot last weekend with it. I enjoyed my outing quite a bit. Anyway, now to tumble cases and reload!

Re: New Revolver
I took it along with ammo but was getting a little tired and a lot more hungry! I'll get to it though. It sure has nice balance to it. Next Friday I think will be .22 day. I'll take out the Ruger MKII, my P229, and the Browning T-bolt for a bit of exercise.
