I appreciate that. I think I'll give it a try. Just the tiniest bit of movement should be plenty. I'll go low and slow. ;)

BassCliff, You have motivated me to drift a post that I have be contemplating about how to address my concern. I replaced the front sight with a fiber one. It hits a little to the right. The rifle had a semi-buckhorn rear sight. I was thinking about a peep sight. Yet, I wanted to keep it as traditional as possible.

So, this is extent of the gunsmithing tools that I used to hold it in place:
