I have the Henry H0006MR Lever .357 Question

Post by jpy15026 » Sun Apr 14, 2019 7:31 pm

Hi,
I have the Henry H0006MR Lever .357 and it is impossible to release (Twist) the Mag tube in order to reload it.When I remove the rubber "0" Ring it releases and locks fine but of course its loose, with the "O" ring re installed I need a pair of pliers to twist it back to lock and "unlock" it
Am I the only one?
Thanks in advance

On mine I took the magazine tube out of all 3 rifles-ran a clean bore mop down the inside and then cleaned the outside tube with a oiled cloth. All mine are not difficult to turn or remove.

.
Your are not alone. Some have had problems with the o-ring making the mag tube closure/opening too tight fitting.
Other members have
o gone to the local hardware store with their mag tube to find a better fitting thinner o-ring.
o called/emailed Henry Customer support about the tight fit and been sent o-rings http://henryrifleforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5127
o left it as is.

All of the above are great places to start, but if you haven't ever cleaned out the mag tube, start there. They are notoriously dirty coming out of the box, and that could be the issue.

Otherwise, Mags is right on, except for "leave it as is," which seems not exactly workable for you!

I had to send mine back. Henry insisted. Took about month to get it back.

I went another route with my 44Mag. It was tight also and I went around the O-ring with a fine tooth file and removed just enough io make it work easer. My son now has it and it has worked out well.

I had the same issue with the 45.70—Henry sent me a new tube—didn’t work. I put metal bluing on the tube, and found it was the bottom of the tube binding inside the outer tube. Apparently the test fire distorted the outer tube.

Same thing on my BB brass .357. I called Henry about it and they sent me a new tube. Received it in two days. Works perfect.

PUSH and Twist . . .

Post by Race*Raccoon » Mon Feb 24, 2020 2:47 pm

Not obvious by looking but one needs to push down from the top while twisting, especially when the magazine is under compression & full of bullets. I suspect it will loosen up some over time from use, but should still require pushing while twisting, again especially while under pressure.
