Leatherman Charge Plus Heritage Multi-Tool

Post by JEBar » Wed Apr 10, 2019 4:18 pm

well, I lost another Leatherman Charge ALX ===> http://henryrifleforums.com/viewtopic.p ... man#p65604 .... I have a really bad/expensive habit of laying one down while I'm working with it and failing to pick it back up when I get through .... while making up my mind what to replace it with, I borrowed and worked with 3 other brands .... guess I'm too comfortable with the Leatherman brand, I still find it to be the best choice ....this time I decided to go with a Charge Plus Heritage Multi-Tool ===> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JN ... UTF8&psc=1 .... my last one didn't offer scissors as one of its tools and that is a feature I really wanted .... the only thing I don't care for is it came with a tan leather sheath .... I've ordered some black dye so that it will match the sheath for my Buck 110 Folding Hunter and the belt case for my flip phone .... OK, I admit I made that same resolution before but this time I'm going to really try to return it to its sheath when not in use ...

Have used my Victorinox for over 30 years.

I actually have two. The other one includes the scissors.

Victorinox is an old line, solid company .... even though I've worn a multi-tool almost every day for close to 20 years, I never cease to be amazed at how many different tools manufactures can cram into such a small space .... for me, they do very few things really well but they can be used to help with a great many things

Don't know what I'd do without my multi tool. Has saved me and others many times. It is a daily fixture on my belt. :)

I have a Leatherman Skeletool. Ive tried to lose it several times even to the extent of leaving it on the vehicle while driving across town. Just think about this Jim how much time have you wasted in your life looking for things you cant remember where you left them.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I sure don't seem to have any problem losing mine .. .. for me, it does seem odd that my Leatherman is the only tool I don't seem to be able to keep track of ....

our new Charge+ came with a tan leather sheath .... I prefer black as can be seen in Mark's post above but at the time we placed our order, tan was the only color available .... I've never dyed leather and decided to give it a try .... ordered a bottle of Fiebing's Leather Dye ===> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000H ... UTF8&psc=1 , picked that dye simply because of its large number of high ratings on Amazon .... so far, I've learned a few things :

1. it says on the bottle that rubbing alcohol will take the dye off of your hands .... I've learned that ain't necessarily true .. .. tips from anyone who has experience doing so would be appreciated .. :?

2. the sheath had a shiny outside with a unfinished surface inside .... the dye worked well on both sides .. 8-)

3. I have an almost full bottle of dye left that I have no reason to believe I'll ever use ..

Looks like the dye worked well Jim!
The Victorinox comes with a black sheath, however it is cordura and wore out long ago.
We have several arts and craft fairs around her and there is usually a leather crafter booth. That is where I found my leather replacement some time back.
