Together We Served

Post by BrokenolMarine » Mon Jun 18, 2018 8:25 am

http://www.togetherweserved.com

This website has five sections, one for each branch of service. You can sign up for free, become an annual member for a modest fee, extend your annual membership thru recruiting, or go all the way and become a lifetime member. You will note I am not offering MY name as a reference so I would get credit for your joining any of the five forums. As a lifetime member, I don't need recruitment extensions. I appreciated what was offered, and joined the site to help support it. First as an annual member, then lifetime.

The biggest draw for me? The opportunity to reconnect with old friends from my time in service, guys I hadn't seen in thirty years... it was amazing. The site is run by former military members, for military, active and old goobers too. I don't visit as much these days, but still drop in.

Give it a look... :D

When I got out of the Navy, I found the site useful in locating previous supervisors. For whatever the reason, the state agency I was hired with wanted a reference letter from previous supervisors. Really! I guess a DD-214 was not good enough. Mind you, I served just over 22 years in the Navy. However, I was able to locate two previous supervisors using this site. One was on deployment in South America. The other had retired in Texas. This was the second state agency I was hired with. The first agency accepted a DD-214. Funny, both agencies are in the same state. I have moved on since then to another agency. Fortunately, the state has taking verification of employment out of local agencies' hands.

I also used another feature they offer. I created a page for another veteran we had lost to honor his service. My stepfather, a Marine Sergeant who served during Korea. :-)

My dad also served during the Korean Conflict but as a sailor. He did not talk about it much until I joined.

You can join for free, annual, or lifetime. I enjoyed the site so much, I went ahead and joined as a lifetime member. Every now and then when I can't sleep I will slip over to TWS and check out the site. I located a number of my old Friends and have remained in touch. I also located former Marines that worked for me. Often, I didn't contact them, just read what they posted and moved on... no reason other than we have all moved on in our lives, and when they were my young Marines, we weren't close. We weren't supposed to be. LOL.
