In the A Country Boy Will Survive Column
our oldest son needs a sprayer large enough to handle 20+ acres ..... after looking at several being sold by various farm stores, he decided to build his own .. .. he was given the trailer (to haul it off), the boards came from his scrap pile, the hoses & plastic pipe were left over from other projects, the barrel came from behind our garage, the 4-wheeler came from in our garage .. .. he did have to buy the electric pump .... he can and probably will extend the pipe with the sprayer fitting .... its first test run was a success, in this case, a Country Boy will thrive .. ..

Yes, a mind at work. Nice! What is being sprayed? 20 acres is a big play ground.

Nice work on that homemade sprayer...looks like it should work fine to meet the need.
Definitely will be much better than walking however much ground, with a spray bottle in one hand, and a squirt gun in the other hand! Give your son a "thumbs up" on his DIY project

depending on the area - ant/bug killer, roundup, fertilizer .... he has way over an acre of gravel driveway where he wants to kill grass and weeds .... he plans to use separated barrels for each type of spray .... he's also working on a way to extend the booms when spraying larger areas .... the sprayer in the pictures is his prototype that will undergo a good bit of tweaking

Oh. Okay. I thought of weeds. Then, I thought all of the 20 acres maybe cleared. But yes, that seems like it would make short work of a big job.

That is a pretty good way to use what you have. The farmers where I come from would be proud of him.
