I guess I need a pump action 22 LR vs 22 MAG
I guess I need a pump action 22 LR vs 22 MAG
What would be the better option between the 2 for general plinking and small game hunting? Will the 22 LR pump also reliable feed 22 shorts?

No doubt a .22 LR will be much better suited for plinking & small game hunting than the Mag version and I suspect if the rifle is engraved with 'For S, L or LR ammo' it should be good to go. My Marlin 39 actually cycles CB caps. Will the 22 LR pump also reliable feed 22 shorts?

Just saw the .22 small game lever action with skinner peep sights. Things just got more complicated.

We have both the 22LR Pump and the SGC and they are both awesome plinkers. We have both of them set up with Skinner rear peeps and Lyman front Globes. If I had to choose only one it would be the SGC - already comes with the Skinner rear peep and it is just a handy little rifle with that 16.25" barrel. It is always a favorite at our home-made 25 yd range - especially with new shooters....

Not complicated at all. Get the SGR. You will absolutely love it!

Another vote for the 22 LR. Still can't beat it for general plinking, target shooting and small game work. The 22 mag is also a great cartridge, but it's really more of a specialty cartridge, designed for hunting slightly larger animals and/or greater distances than are practical with the 22 LR.

I think Monday I am going to order the .22 LR Small Game Rifle. I can always add a pump later.

Great choice, Bugs. I have the SGC in .22LR (H001TLP). It is the best Henry shooter I've owned!
I also agree with what Tractortad posted....we have one of Henry's finest rimfire lever-action rifles!
Always a pleasure to show mine off, too!

Just ordered the .22LR SGC levergun from Kentucky Gun Co. Should have it in a few days and then will move it to the correct forum.

Has been a while and was wondering if you had gotten your SGC yet. I ordered the pump in 22lr and two weeks later ordered the SGC, really like both of them.
