just curious, with all the competition from other (cheaper) manufactures, how are your sales holding up ?

Business is growing and we are working 6 days a week trying to keep up. Those cheap knives aren't really our competion.

Glad to have you here. Nice to have someone from the real deal. I like your reasoning for liking Henry. I just wish I liked Cutco better. It is a great company that stands behind it's product.
Glad you are here. I'm looking forward to your input here.

I love my Marine Kabars. It's the same company, right?
Somehow, I get the feeling I may be adding more Kabars to the collection.

Re: Sharpening the blades
My dad was a machinist making parts for rockets, satellites and space modules. He didn't teach me how to sharpen so much as how to know when a tool was sharp by looking at it.
He taught me to look at the edge straight on under a light and look for two shinny lines on the blade. If there were three lines, two shinny lines separated by a dull line the blade was not sharp. that muted line is the edge that's been flattened and curved by use.
That lesson gave me and understanding that I've been able to carry with me and use in my own career.
I cook.

Re: Sharpening the blades
I know this is a thread resurrection, but reading the posts and seeing the picture of the K-Bar knives brouht me back to a local trade show I attended this winter. There was a young lady with a table of Cutco knives on it for sale, and I could feel the quality of them. What surprised me was the K-Bar tie-in, company wise.bmur66 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2018 5:54 amThanks. How about Kabar?daytime dave wrote:bmur66

It was nice to see the knives, and I really want to get a couple for the kitchen, but my better half isn't cotton to spending that kind of money on "just knives that she doesn't use". Oh well, mayhaps when I am really rich and famous.

Re: Sharpening the blades
Just like knives, sharpening and stones can be an addiction also. I got into hand forged Japanese kitchen knives and the stones quickly followed to create that perfect edge with the various steels.
