Re: Big Problem
41 and 44 are both outstanding calibers .... that said, there is nothing the 41 can do that the 44 can't do just a bit better .... unless it was a matter or personal preference, I'd go with the 44

Re: Big Problem
I'm suggesting a 180* from the comment that Les made.
Leave them both at home and get a Henry All-Weather .30-30 for the deer hunt.
A Henry .357 Magnum carbine would do quite well also.
This way you don't have to decide, problem solved, and you will grow your Henry collection at the same time.
Good hunting!!

Re: Big Problem
Can't argue that JEBar, but I was also thinking the .41 has the longer barrel and might shoot a littler flatter out to 100yds.JEBar wrote:41 and 44 are both outstanding calibers .... that said, there is nothing the 41 can do that the 44 can't do just a bit better .... unless it was a matter or personal preference, I'd go with the 44
I'm not at all familiar with either caliber though.

Re: Big Problem
many years ago I owned a Smith 41 mag but can't offer specifics with personal knowledge of their 100 yard trajectory .... I do know that our 44 mag firing Nosler 240 gr JHP pushed by 23.8 g of W296 has a muzzle velocity of about 1725 FPS .... if we sight it in an inch and a half high at 50 yards it will Zero at 100 yards .... after 100 yards it drops fairly quicklyHenry88 wrote:JEBar wrote:Can't argue that JEBar, but I was also thinking the .41 has the longer barrel and might shoot a littler flatter out to 100yds.
