Range Report: morning light

Post by Sir Henry » Fri Aug 29, 2025 8:15 am

I moved here mainly because I can shoot out my back door and seldom shoot. It seems I work work work all the time. As my summer projects wind down I’m hoping to shoot more often.

This morning I grabbed my SGC and plinked for a half hour in the early morning sunshine.

My targets face north and they will be in the shade in another month.

Can you believe these guys! They must have been beside the garage when I was shooting. I was shooting SV rimfire and while I wear eye protection I don’t bother with ear protection. And I wear ear muffs when I’m on the tractor.

Gene, I've been doing a lot of the work on our place, too, this summer. Gotta get out and shoot, though, or I go nuts after a while. We both know what's coming (winter), so good to know you are going to be doing more shooting.

Great way to get a morning started Gene! You win the prize for best landscape for a shooting range!

My problem is I focus on what needs to be done around here and not on the front sights.

I do have the best looking weeds around here. I let whatever came up grow. This is the fourth growing season so whatever it is it’s established and I’m not getting erosion on the steep berm. Even the upper berm that only has two growing seasons isn’t eroding. Or at least no erosion this year. Both berms had some the first year.
