This picture was taken right at sunset. It’s looking to the east.

Wow, blue sky. Haven't seen that here for several weeks. Temperature inversions are pretty common in our valley so not unusual to not see the sun much in the Winter.
Doesn't look like nearly as much snow as you had last year but I guess you still have several months of Winter left.

Last year this time we had about two feet and before the winter was over there was four feet on the ground. We had two late storms that dumped a foot each.dave77 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 11:18 pmWow, blue sky. Haven't seen that here for several weeks. Re: A Favorite Sunset or Two...or maybe a SunRise?
Got up at 4:00 this morning and drove an hour and a quarter to get at the beach at sunrise. Unfortunately, couldn't get to the beach due to excessively high tide. Got a few shots from the causeway. Good news is my snake boots are definitely waterproof as well. Very windy and temps in the 30s. Not a time to get your feet wet. When I waded up to about a foot and a half of water over the causeway, and getting deeper, I decided to turn back.
Here's the shot with the sunrise at my back.
That's not clouds to the left of the standing tree. That's spray being blown off the top of the wave and upwards into the air. Nicely backlit by the rising sun. I wish I would have been able to get closer and use a wide angle lens instead of my 500mm. That wouldn't have been possible without an airboat, or my SCUBA gear.

In the last picture I like how the birds silhouette against the sky and water. Really sharp.

Thanks Randy. It was only like that for a few minutes. About 60% of the east side of the house is windows and it’s where I spent the most time. I bought this place because I’m a morning person.

Those birds hanging in the window look to be appreciating the sunrise. Still dark here and probably cloudy as the temp stayed warm overnight.
