New to Henry
Hi all my first Henry an h001classic. Picking it up in a few days from lgs. So much good info here. Going to clean it up before going to the range. Do you recommend a complete tear down cleaning or just the bore and spraying some clp on the action. Thanks for all the good info here

Welcome from Nebraska. It seems to come down to personal choice. I'd run with quick clean. Shoot some, then hit it good. Enjoy your Henry.

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.
Re: New to Henry
Welcome to the forum. Although I have not been a member for very long myself, I find the folks here to be first class.
My personal preference is to give a new firearm a thorough cleaning before taking it to the range for the first time. Manufacturers apply preservative coatings before they ship to inhibit rust and also, there may be miniscule pieces of metal or other contaminants in even a new rifle. I think a thorough cleaning allows parts to smoothly wear in rather than grinding in. My theory only, others may disagree.
Good luck with your new Henry.

Your H001 owners manual states the following.
Page8
pages 11-13MAINTENANCE BEFORE USE
Before using your firearm for the first time, it should be cleaned. (See the cleaning instructions.) Your firearm
was treated at the factory with either a preservative or oil to protect it against corrosion during shipping and
storage. Preservative and oil should be wiped from the bore, chamber and exposed areas using a clean swab
or patch before using the firearm.
Manual is attached.....
NOTICE! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TAKE YOUR FIREARM APART FURTHER THAN EXPLAINED IN THIS MANUAL.
Your firearm is a specialized, finely fitted mechanism. You may permanently damage it by attempting to
disassemble the inner mechanisms. If further disassembly for service or cleaning is required, take your firearm
to a qualified gunsmith.
IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO TAKE YOUR HENRY LEVER ACTION APART TO
KEEP IT CLEAN....

Welcome to the forum. The H001 isn’t all that hard to breakdown and clean even though it’s not critical until you get that one rifle that should have been taken down prior to shooting.
