Stoeger ShotGun
Interested in checking into a Stoeger Coach Gun. Up till recently, I really don't know a whole lot about them. A question for now would be 20 Gauge vs 410 Bore. Ammo for 410's is not easy to find lately and not really cheap to boot. How is the 20 Gauge as far as availability and price in comparison out there?
Thanks

I would think that you would need to check for yourself what shotgun ammo is to be found in your area and for what price.

If I was lookin at one it would be a 20.
That said I do have an old JP Stevens dbl with exposed hammers, but the barrels are a bit longer than a coach gun.

20ga shot shells are plentiful here and has been for a while. One of my grumbles at LGS is looking at a lot of 20ga (and 28ga) and not seeing any .410. 20 ga Federal Top Gun is about half the price of same in .410, while Winchester 20ga is the same price as advertised for 410.Cowboy Gun Fan wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 9:16 pmInterested in checking into a Stoeger Coach Gun. They do. It's a Model 31410. Here is a link to one of vendors that have it. Great price too, but believe they are out of stock:

Re: Stoeger ShotGun
Yep Stoeger makes a 410 coach gun and I found a couple online but they were a few bucks more than the 12 and 20 ga.
Went with the 20 because it better fits my needs and I have a 20 in the Shockwave. At my LGS there is plenty of 12 and 20 gauge ammo on the shelf and price not bad at all. Some .410 is showing up but it is about same as the 20. Will find out today how the 20 coach gun shoots!

Have a couple of Stoeger guns and cant fault them for the money.
410 coach gun is just fun, ammo isnt cheap but I reload so not as much of an issue. Still would not have put much more than 1000rds through it in 10 odd years.
Wife has a U/O 28" 12ga and 26" 20ga barrels, it to wouldnt have had much more than 1000rds.

I haven't had a chance to check on the 20's yet, but 410 around here is about as rare as 22's were back in the shortage days.
What I have noticed in the last few years is 28 Gauge and plenty of it too. And sure enough, I don't have anything that will shoot a 28.
