Electrical Problem
as mentioned in our recent trip thread, while in South Dakota in August, a problem developed in our camper's 12V .... after trying to analyze it and having two friends who have extensive knowledge about RV electrical systems, we've booked a local mobile RV Tech to come to our home and work on it .... he is booked to be here next week on October 5th .... I've already learned one thing, that being the cost of mobile repair in our area has certainly gone up

Re: Electrical Problem
I hope you Tech is able to find and fix the issue. The cost is surely disappointing but a complete repair will help offset that.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Re: Electrical Problem
we considered towing our camper up to Chesapeake for a few days and have a mobile tech we know to work on the problem .... ultimately the expense of the tow and camping could easily double the cost .... if we can get it fixed at home, that would move spending the winter in Texas into the optional column

Re: Electrical Problem
in question yes but still leaning in that direction .... health issues are a concern as is aging equipment .... no change in summer trips to South Dakota, the major difference is having family to help if needed

Re: Electrical Problem
I understand totally. I hope you are able to still go as I know you enjoy it. Its good you have the family support for the summer trip. Aging equipment is another issue I only have that issue on one end to deal with. My intentions though are to continue to use the existing pulllng truck and fix what needs to be fixed to make it work. Right now I feel like it will do fine for a couple more years.

Re: Electrical Problem
Tina stumbled on a really good deal on a stock trailer a neighbor was selling. It needs a little cleaning, some paint, and the lights don't work, but they did the last time he hauled calves. I figure a bad harness or bad ground since all the lights are out. May just replace all the wiring. A harness with connector is less than $50. Likely my best bet AFTER I insure the truck doesn't have a blown fuse or issues. The trailer lights worked when we last pulled the flatbed.
