Switching rifles

Post by leverjc » Tue Jun 23, 2020 8:57 pm

I bought a pre cb 336 in 30-30 for Lever Silhouette but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get it to shoot so I am going to go with my much worked over very accurate Remlin. Worked up some 130grn Speer HC for the chickens and pigs and some 170 grn loads for the turkeys and rams. Then I left the 170 grainers on my bench so just can report on the 130grn. The best was W748 I went with 30.7,31.0 and 31.3 and CfE 223 with 34.7,35.0 and 35.3grns. I will go with W748 at 31.3grns as I got about 1/2" group with.

Nice shooting! I don't own a pre-Remington. But, I like the way my 2016 336W shoots.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I shot them at 50yds with a sandbag rest as close to the action as possible, At least .25' was caused by my wobble just couldn't settle in. I wish I could keep the scope when I am shooting a Lever Silhouette match. Lol

we have found 35 g of W748 pushing a 150 g Nosler Ballistic Silvertip to be a hard hitting, very accurate round in our 30-30

looks like a great hunting bullet. I have been using Nosler .357 bullets because of cost and have been impressed with their quality.
