45-70 X, Iowa whitetail
Hey all,
My first lever action, super thrilled.
Looking for a light weight optic perfect for the 50-150 yard range, are there 4x red dits or decent illumination, don’t want to string of a scope, what would work well for 50 to 150 , considering Sig Romeo 5, but if it’s 100+ might not work well, need plenty of view, wide area view.
Thanks

I'd go with a Leupold 2.5X Ultralight scope, which happens to be what I used on my H15 SS 45-70. It's small and light, has plenty of eye relief, a smaller ocular eyepiece, which helps with hammer clearance, and is plenty stout enough to manage 45-70 recoil. You don't need a lot of magnification to shoot to 150 yards, back in the day, a 4X scope was considered to be "powerful" enough for long range .

I put a Athlon 1x8 on mine with a DNZ Gamereaper mount and I hit steel at 200 yards easily.
