Henry .22LR trigger pull
Henry .22LR trigger pull
Hello my friends. I was wondering if any of you know the approximate trigger pull of stock Henry rimfire rifles. I have 3 Henrys in .22LR and the TP is pretty much the same as my Browning BL-22 from the 80’s.
I shoot them all really well but I’ve always been curious and what better place than this forum to ask the experts.
I don’t have any Bolt Action rifles in .22lr there is no way To compare.
I do Have a S&W Victory with a below average TP, but again I shoot her well. I guess I have learned to shoot with crappy TP and maybe I think that’s the norm.

Re: Henry .22LR trigger pull
Joe, as far as the trigger pull on 22's or all rifles for that matter the trigger pull will be hit or miss. I was lucky on my Frontier that came with a 3,5lb crisp trigger, not so lucky on my BBS that came with a 7.5lb creepy gritty trigger. I am sure we can train are selves to shoot fairly well with poor heavy triggers but a good trigger will improve your shooting. If you don.t believe that find a good competitive shooter that has a heavy gritty trigger on their gun. Trigger pull seems to be a personal thing heavy or light but consistency is important to me as most of my guns seem to eventually end up with about a 2,75 crisp trigger pull. I have 2 1911's, 4 lever action rifles, 2 bolt rifles and 2 AR's that all have within a 1/4lb of this. Guess I am just a trigger snob.
Happy shooting

Trigger Pull seems to be perfect on my H001.
Never even gave it a thought of it needing any correcting.

Re: Henry .22LR trigger pull
I used to shoot in competition (bullseye and silhouette) and am very fussy about my triggers, so I always buy in person so I can inspect the trigger, first. There is a HUGE variation in triggers out of the box, same model, one to the next, on your average production guns, but you start to see more consistency in triggers on the more expensive brands.
Action type also tends to affect triggers. Lever guns typically are behind bolt guns in this respect.

Re: Henry .22LR trigger pull
My .22WMR Henry has a heavy pull, maybe 7 or 8 pounds. The let off is very clean, no creep. If it was creepy I would have worked on it, but heavy I can deal with. My .44 BBS carbine has the nicest trigger of any lever gun I ever shot.
It's a crapshoot, lots of luck involved.
edit: I was out shooting it today, as the barrel got warm, (or as my eyes and hands got tired trying to target shoot, which isn't may favorite thing) it SEEMED like it was heavy. I was just handling the rifle tonight and it felt like a normal .22, 3 to 5 pounds. All that straining for bullseyes made me tired, I guess.
After that was over I went back to shooting clays and their pieces up on the 50 yard backstop. Pow pow pow--hit hit hit. Paper targets wear me down.

Re: Henry .22LR trigger pull
If I shoot my Marlin 39A's and my Henry Frontier often enough I can get used to the heavier trigger pull especially if they have a clean break on the sear. Go back to shooting my CZ 452's for a while and then the lever guns feel terrible again. The 3+ lb. triggers are OK but nothing like shooting my CZ's and my Remington 540XR with triggers at 8 oz. After shooting the 40X Remington with the 2 oz. trigger my CZ's feel like they are heavy to pull. The Remington 2 oz. takes some getting used to but it is an awesome trigger. For all out accuracy shooting good triggers are a must.

I always liked handing my 540x that has a trigger pull in ounces to some one that has never shot a target grade trigger. It 's always a look of amazement.

Re: Henry .22LR trigger pull
My Henrys all came with a 3 to 4 lb. trigger which I reduced to about 2 1/2 lbs. it’s easy to do by cutting a half coil out of the trigger spring.
If you do cut the trigger spring make sure you do a slam test.

Never used a scale on my H001 Classic
I’ve said it before and will say it again, though. Although I really like my H001 a lot, it’s got a crummy trigger. Deceptively bad. When you shoot it, you don’t say “yuck”
But after a bit you wonder why accuracy is inconsistent.
Does anyone make an aftermarket trigger?
