Brass butt plate coverings

Post by Henry35remington » Fri Feb 14, 2020 1:34 pm

So whoever has a brass butt plate what is everyone using as a recoil pad or just anything in general to protect it from being damaged ?

It shouldt become 'damaged' from normal shouldering.

I don't use anything and am careful when I set my BBB down on its buttplate.

If it does become scratched or tarnished Flitz is your friend!

I use one right now but sometimes take it off. I don't worry about a few scratches here and there.

If its getting used it will get wear and tear. Sure you can be careful and prevent some of it. But if you dont want any scratches hang it on the wall. Even with a butt cuff I bet you will get some.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I'd be more worried about that brass butt plate damaging me, than me damaging it. I'm a recoil pad kind of guy ;) .

All 3 of mine received a strip of Talon Rubber Grip Tape about 1 inch wide and the height of the butt-really helps to keep it shouldered considering that brass gets very slippery on different types of shirt or jacket material.
I had slip on rubber butt pads but quickly started disliking them.

I like that leather cover RangeRoper has. Limbsaver might work for you, it's a slip on, handles recoil well too. Plus gives you a bit longer reach, if you need that.

I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

How about this? When trouble comes best to be prepared I guess. As long as you can carry it....
