Marlin 39A Trapper
I need to get rid of a gaggle of firearms but I also want to fill in a few gaps. The Marlin 39A is the one I most want and if it’s the Trapper it would be perfect.
The home remodel will take up a lot of my time but I want to actively search for one.
I also want to shoot at least once a week. It’s good to have New Year goals

Either a Trapper or a Mountie which I believe is what I was thinking. Old age is stealing my memory.

Re: Marlin 39A Trapper
The 39A was the first rifle I purchased when I came of age and I shot the bejabbers out of it. That rifle was taken during a burglary. I have 3 now and like them all, but have no Mountie. Have seen some at gun shows and the prices on the JMs continue to rise. Happy hunting, I know there is one for you out there.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Re: Marlin 39A Trapper
If your by Trapper you mean a take down all the 39a's are take downs.
There is a 39a 24" barrel pistol grip, 39a Mounty straight grip 20in barrel, 39d 20" barrel pistol grip, a couple octagon barrel modles.
All take down.

Re: Marlin 39A Trapper
My 39A is from 1957. Whoever had it before me took off the semi buckhorn and put on an adjustable Williams folding leaf. Works rather well!
Hope you find one Gene, they are wonderful rifles.

From 1983 on 39AS. S for the cross bolt safety.
Don't think there ever were any non-JM 39A's.
You can order one from a "Marlin Custom" (not Marlin) shop, but they are put together from old stock parts.
