REM oil wipes

Post by TMB » Wed Dec 04, 2019 10:58 am

I bought some REM oil wipes in a plastic dispenser similar to Clorox wipes. They have so much oil in them one will wipe every gun I own and still be oily. I didn't think there would be that much oil. :o

Sounds like too much oil in the wipes.

60 wipes. You can probably find them for less than I paid. I bought them from the only LGS in the small town where I hunt for $9.00.

Mags is correct there is too much oil.

Agreed. It is good stuff. I use the wipes after a range trip or if the rifle was in the scabbard all day.

I like the wipes, but I don't like the material there made off. I think they just smear the oil on. Honestly, I haven't had container of them for years, so maybe they have changed. Think I might pick some up, and give them another try.

Stopped using REM oil wipes. Same reasons: too much oil in a sheet; and Moe hit it spot on noting the material the oil is in unevenly smears it all over the place. Noticed that the first time I used them. Go figure what the material is...

But REM oil is good stuff when using the right amount. I use the oil from squeeze bottles for barrel cleaning, and spray cans for sidelock cleaning. That gives me the choice of cloth I can use, too. These work fine for me.

Aside. I've received a similar product made by Ruger as part of a NIB gun, or complimentary when I've ordered Ruger accessories. There is so much of that oil in the plastic bag, the cloth didn't have a chance and drowned. :o
