Leather, wood, and steel

Post by GunnyGene » Wed Nov 06, 2019 3:48 pm

Just a "glamour" shot, since I've been cutting up that big oak the last few days. Might as well be prepared out in the woods. ;) From left to right:

Stihl, Henry .41mag BBSC, Winchester 9422M, Ruger NMBH .41mag. :)

Nothing special, just a Nikon Buckmaster. 3-9x40 to compensate for my 75yo eyeballs. Gudnuf to put a doe in the freezer last year, and I expect this season also. :)

Specifically a pin oak, one of the varieties of red. This was a blowdown from last springs tornado, which took out a couple dozen trees around my house and land. Don't have a fireplace or wood stove so most of it will be burned where it lays. I might keep a few bf of the trunk for my stash but that's about all. There's a glut of down hard and soft woods of common varieties here (oak, pecan, soft maple, magnolia, red cedar, pine, etc. ) due to that tornado, so can't even give it away. Probably 4 or 5 thousand mature trees knocked down altogether, along with a few dozen houses and other buildings.
