Help with planning

Post by markiver54 » Sun Oct 06, 2019 8:59 pm

Due to health constraints, we have only just now been able to plan a short, ( days to maybe up to 4 weeks ) trip to our mountain cabin. Have repairs to take care of and want to get into some shooting as well. Primarily, my BBS 357 and my SGC which has been shot very little so far. We have to keep cargo to a VERY minimum. Cat crate  tools for repairs and then my gun #....@.
Does anyone dis-agree to leaving all cleaning, and most maintaience items at home for now.
I would clean them when I return home.
Space in my 4-Runner, pulling a 4-Wheeler is very limited. Opinions?
BTW, wife could care less about the shooting needs. :(

I'd throw in a silicone rag or rag saturated with Ballistol and call it good until you get back home

Not at all but you should take some minimal maintenance items with you.
I carry a three tier fishing tackle box stuffed with tools, maintenance items, etc. whenever I go shooting and it has been with me for years and bailed many shooting friends out.
Do your best to try to 'split the difference' between wife, tasks and all else but ensure you earmark some range time for yourself!

Yes, that is my goal, unfortunately, in a relatively small amount of time. Thanks Ed.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

That sounds even easier Al. Just don't want to promote any damage to bores or actions. Think I'll do that and do as JBAR said about wiping them with Ballistol, or Amsoil till I can get them home for proper cleaning.

I think the plan you have is best you can do if you can’t take your normal kit. If you are pulling a 4-wheeler on a trailer, is it possible to secure your kit into a crate on the trailer?
