Re: Best .357 ammo for deer?
Welcome to the forum. I ended up using 158 grain American Eagle SJSP in my BBSC last fall. They were by far the most accurate in my .357, but I didn’t see any legal deer, so I can’t say how well they will work. Deer season opened on Tuesday this week, so I’m hoping to have some insight soon!
Happy hunting you guys!

+1 on the American Eagle 158 soft point. I dropped a decent sized whitetail last season at about 40 yards. A short trail and good bleed out.
I also agree with the accuracy of the round. I have spent the recent months making my own. Using the Nosler Sporting Handgun bullet. 158 grain SJHP. It shoots as accurately as the AE.
Good luck.

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

.
I've been impressed with Federal American Eagle ammo in all the calibers I use. .45LC, .45ACP and 5.56.

Re: Best .357 ammo for deer?
thank you all for the input I MOUNTED UTG 3x9x32 bug buster on my henry went to the range today . tried Hornady/Federal/ the Fusion and the lever evolution. they all were 158 grain except for the lever evolution was 140 gr had about a 2" to 3 "groups at a 100 yards.so pretty happy with that. probably wont shoot over 50 to 75 yds. see no need ,I hunt in some big woods. most shots are under a 100 yards

I have a 1-4 Bugbuster I bought for my Ruger .44 Carbine, and have contemplated mounting it on either my .357 or my
.45-70. So far, I haven’t found a reason yet as I upgraded both to peeps, and seem to be able to hit “the zone” at 50-60 yards.
I hunt in this sort of terrain a lot, so a scope is an unnecessary impediment:
