New from South Carolina

Post by jimbo510 » Tue Jul 23, 2019 7:46 pm

Just got my first Henry, its a Big Boy Steel Rifle in 357 Mag and its one of my favorite rifles . I am not a fan of the factory site and I am looking at a Ranger Point Precision site as an upgrade. I have been a police officer for 14 years. I am an avid deer hunter and I load just about every round I shoot. I am pretty excited to start loading for the Henry.

Thanks. Just posted on the How Many Thread. Although its not my primary deer rifle, I plan to do some deer hunting with the Henry and hopefully my daughter will enjoy shooting it enough to try to take a deer. She is pretty good with a 22 and she recently just shot a friends Henry 22 and she really liked it so one of those might be added soon.

Welcome from the Show-Me-State. As an owner of a .357 Henry, you'll have good company here. Quite a number of that great caliber rifle are owned amongst the members

Important, I think, to send a thanks your way for serving as an LEO. Appreciated.

Glad to hear you have a daughter who is interested in Henrys. Hopefully the start of some great family outings together! :)

Welcome, Jimbo, from KC! So glad you're here!

It would be an interesting thread to see how many members here owned a 357 as their first Henry. I'm guessing many, potentially outnumbered by those whose first was a 22 of one stripe or another.

Lots of us 357 reloaders here, too, so jump into that sub-forum for some good stuff!

Either way, you're in familiar territory. A BBS 357 was my first and a 22lr Small Game Carbine was my second. They're just fun and so well made. Lots to choose from, so keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks to all the welcomes. ESquard I see you have a long ranger in 308. I almost got one when they first came out but I was worried I wouldn't get bolt gun accuracy that I wanted and I chickened out. I ended up getting a TIkka and its a great rifle, but now that I have been shooting the 357 I am regretting not getting the Long Ranger. How do you like yours and do you get bolt gun accuracy?
