Re: Route 66
Couple years ago I meet a buddy up in St. Louis.
We rode a little ways down it but not far.
So I don't'' it would count.

Quite a cool 2002 travelogue you made, Jkrijt.jkrijt wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 3:37 amI did a short part of route 66 on my motorcycletrip in 2002.

And that comfortable Beamer is a great way to travel long-distances. My last road bike was a Honda 900cc Custom, so your 850 is also the perfect size from my perspective. Thanks for your post.

Re: Route 66
In 1973 I just bought a new International Scout II and had two week of free time before starting a new job. I called a buddy of mine who id gone to high school and college with and we pooled our cash and came up with $600. We hit the road and traveled through 14 states and 6400 miles camping all the way. We went to Rocky Mtn National park, Tetons, Yellowstone, Silverton, Telluride, Mesa Verde, 4 Corners, Ship Rock, Bryce Canyon, Zion and the Grand Canyon before heading to Albuquerque. We departed Albuquerque and traveled Route 66 much of the way back to where we had to head back home to East Tennessee. One of the reasons we drove 66 was the interstate wasn’t complete in many areas and we just wanted to drive 66.
Not sure I could handle that many miles in such a short time now but it sure was fun when I did.

Re: Route 66
Mom and Dad took me on the old Route 66 back in 1962. We went the whole way. That was quite the experience. Best part was, it was before the time that the big major highways were stretching across the U.S.

Re: Route 66
66 ran near where I grew up. I didn't run the whole thing but did go to California from near Joplin, Mo with my family in the early 60's. I think it was between my fourth and fifth grade year.
