unless Henry comes out with a 30-30 Long Ranger, my thinking has been that I'm pretty well finished buying Henry rifles for my own use .... I have 2 more grandsons coming along for whom I plan to purchase Henry 357's .... if/when Henry expands their side loaders to include BBS and/or CCH models, I might be back in the market ....

I would think the Single Shot rifle in 30-30 would better suit your interest in experimenting with the 30-30.
Even with the Long Ranger you'd be limited by magazine length.
In the SS you would not have that only limited by the free bore.

its simply a matter of personal preference .... the only single shot I have any interest in is TC Black Powder Hawken .... have owned one for decades and have no interest in another .... I am highly interested in a magazine fed, lever action 30-30 .... doubt one will ever be made so I'll just do without

I am interested in one badly but will wait until the prices come down. If I found a Marlin 336 for $300 I'd probably buy it.
