My former problem child...
Henry recently rebarreled my .44 magnum X-Model and this is what it's consistantly doing now with the same load that was shooting softball sized patterns. Five shots at 50 yards with 240 grain Nosler HP's over 24 gr. of 296 with Fed 155 for 1733 fps average. Bring on the whitetails!

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

The .44 has a 30mm 2 moa UltraDot. It was overcast today and the red dot showed up nicely on a white plate.

Well said!
Happy that Henry did right by you and made your rifle a shooter.

I'm going to try to live up to the handle.. BUT...I notice that gun writer Brian Pearce uses 4 shot groups in his lever tests. In my declining years it might be high time to move the goalposts!!

Nice shooting with the red dot. Ultradots have been my go to red dot for many years. Have never let me down.

Re: My former problem child...
The Ultradot is my first choice for deep woods hunting and I've had a quite a few over the years and currently have 4 of them. I like the fact that they're made in Japan and not that other Asian country. That's an Ultradot on the .475 Linebaugh in my avatar. The one on the .44 X-Model is the new Gen II with a 2 minute dot. I sent it back to the company last fall because I didn't believe the gun was shooting that bad and was sure the optic was the problem. While the Ultradot was gone for service I mounted a Leupold 2.5X and that was bad too. Then I contacted Henry customer svc.North Country Gal wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 10:14 amNice shooting with the red dot. Ultradots have been my go to red dot for many years. Have never let me down.
All is well now. With a scope I believe it'll do consistent 1" at 50 yards with it's best loads.....whether 4 or 5 shots.
