Evil Roy - Receiver finish

Post by Cowpokey » Tue Oct 22, 2019 5:58 pm

I'm thinking about putting a scope on my Evil Roy, but concerned the scope rings might damage the finish on the receiver. It looks like there is a clear coat as the finish...does anyone know if that's accurate? I don't want to take a chance messing up such a pretty gun if I don't like having a scope on it.

One thing you could do is find some very thin, clear plastic and cut a shim out of it to place beneath the scope mount and the receiver as a 'barrier'.
I'm thinking something like blister pack plastic on a typical package from a store.
Just an idea anyway.

Never thought about that as an option; maybe kitchen plastic wrap would be suitable?

Probably not 'firm' enough - it would probably crush and tear away when you torque the mount down - you are going to want something that has some integrity to it.
Some thin brass shim stock would probably work as well - but very thin like about .005 or so.

.
Try black rubberized electrical tape. Sticky side up, toward the scope mount.

This might work as well - don't crank the scope mount down too tightly however.
