Protecting scope rail mount
I have a Henry H001 and want to put a scope on it. Does anyone know of a product or a way to protect the finish on the scope mount so the steel rings don't mar the finish?

Re: Protecting scope rail mount
Welcome to the forum from CT.
I once used a Simmons rimfire scope on my H001 with tall see-through rings that simply gripped the receiver and were held in place by screws that tightened it to lock onto the receiver. I've since removed the scope in favor of a Skinner peep on the barrel (which I do like... a lot). There wasn't any damage done to the receiver by those rings, though. Maybe I was just lucky.
Others will come along to give you some better or different advice, I'm sure. This is a great group of people who have lots of knowledge. You're going to enjoy the forum.

If you did happen to mar the finish, the linked thread from this forum has the solution: http://henryrifleforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5235

.
Same experience with my two scoped rifles. No damage done.

Re: Protecting scope rail mount
A week ago I wentt o BiG 5 and purchased a $35.00 rimfire scope for my Henry Classic. Even with this cheap scope, the accuracy at 25 yards resulted in a 15 shot one hole group just slightly left of center!! Unbelievable. Tomorrow I go pick up my new Delton AR-15 at Turner's Outdoorsman. While I am there I plan to purchase a new Henry Golden Boy. I love these guns. You can have your Marlins, Winchesters and Brownings. I'd pit my Henry against any of them!!
