Spring has sprung. Get out and shoot your Henry
Beautiful Craftsmanship
Beautiful Craftsmanship
I posted a pic of these a little while back and had a few folks wanting pics of the other side's of the guns.
Figured I'd just post them together in one post.
I hit every gun shop for many miles in search of "The right wood".
Once I found what I was looking for I promptly stripped the factory finish and began a Tru-oil finish.
Very happy with the results and what was hiding under the factory tinted poly!

Yep that is some nice wood!
My BBB stock by comparison is pretty 'plain' but at the time I didn't have the luxury of being picky as Henry .357s were few and far between around me.
I plan on similar re-finish but it wont be as nice as yours!

Re: Beautiful Craftsmanship
I had the misfortune of being in walmrt LOL the other day picking up a tube of Pelgun Oil (Academy no longer carries). Over $4 bucks for a little tube but what are ya gonna do.
Anyway, to make a short story long, I saw a Classic behind the glass, think it's been there a while. The stain in SO DARK that it completely hides the beautiful grain underneath. Really a crime, I don't know why Henry does that..........

I didn't realize Henry had ever stained any of their stocks. The stain in SO DARK
Is the Classic an early model possibly without a walnut stock?

Re: Beautiful Craftsmanship
I think he is referring to the tinted poly, Henry has always used walnut to my knowledge.
The finish has seemingly started getting darker and more red lately on the cheaper rifles.
I know they do the tinted poly for uniformity, but honestly it doesn't bother me.
It gives me something to mess with and improve!

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Couple of range towels would set them off nicely!
