Wee Wee Pad for your Henry
Wee Wee Pad for your Henry
Hi all!
Figured the heading would get your attention! Seriously, over time I'll share some tricks from the shop.
Out in the shop, I do precision instrument design, machining and assembly, and a lot of other stuff like gunsmithing. I like to use what's called a Wee-Wee Pad, AKA "Training Pad", used for potty training puppies, as a work surface. A popular brand is Piddle Pad. At any pet supply shop, most markets and big box stores. Run about 30 cents each in packs of 14 - 50 or so.
They make a great work surface, as the pad is soft, absorbent and lint free, and is backed with a water proof layer that keeps stuff off the bench. Usually about two-feet square, they're a perfect size. Absorbs cleaning fluids, oils, etc., and also protects your gun from damage. And just roll up the mess and toss! Super neat trick!
I also like to use "Rags" (trade name) for general cleaning. Soft, made of a cotton/cellulous blend, they are at any Ace Hardware and most big box stores.
Just some tricks! More to come...

Also easier to spot the occasional errant part that tries to get away. Nice tip.
