Nope, I have an O-ring on my BBS. Should be one, as it provides just enough of a spacer/friction point to keep the inner tube from rotating freely. As noted above, check the muzzle end of your case, as that's where I found mine after no more than half-dozen times taking the rifle in and out.

Back home now and had a chance to take a closer look at the outer end of the inner mag tube. Sure enough there is an o-ring there. It is well disguised with the end knob. The knob is quite a bit bigger in diameter than the o-ring. I don't see that the o-ring on the .30-30 could slip off over it.

Would you have an Ace hardware part number or dimensions Sir Henry?

Just take the inner tube into the store. Those O-rings are in little drawers and you can try out different ones until you find the one you like. They'll likely even help you find the right one!

Exactly right. My .357 is the same way, but the .22 ring fit is looser and the knurled knob is way smaller. Still has made me more careful taking the BBS out of the case!

That is how I did it.

Had that happen to mine today. Pulled it out to show a friend the new SGC and no o-ring. I said “what the hell, that should not be falling off like that, but I bet it’s in the case”. And there it was. I’ll be heading to my industrial supplier and getting a few spare o-rings. Hopefully in a slightly thicker and smaller size so they don’t come off as easily.

One of the easiest "fixes" I've seen over the years on our Forum. The part is either "in the box," or "in little Ace drawers."
And the real plus for everyone ---> no shipping the rifle to Henry, and no gunsmithing required.

Cool 8-) thread!
