It may just be that the windage adjustment screw is loose allowing the sight to move a bit during shipping. Check to be sure.

That’s the plan. It isn’t loose now, not even a tiny bit, so either they didn’t make any effort to install it straight, or they test fired it and adjusted for windage. I guess I’ll find out as soon as I get a chance to shoot it, which isn’t coming soon enough!

What Petey said.

In other words, you may need to tweak the rear peep.

Have fun and let us know how it works for you!

Congratulations on getting her set. I like that Lyman sight and insert. I think I will be getting the shorter Lyman like you have for mine. Mine is sporting the .578 I believe right now, as soon as I build some gun money back up I am going to put the .494 sight on her.

It's pretty fun, isn't it? Have you lowered your rear sight as far as possible? I had my smith grind off a few threads so mine would go lower, as it was bottomed out and that made all the difference.

I have a Golden boy with the Skinner sights on the barrel. I did lower the rear sight by grinding a few threads off and it worked for that rifle just fine. I did not want to change the sight on this rifle, I figured it should have come from the factory already to go at 25 yards. Really how many people shoot Squirrels at 50 yards. I will end up getting the .494 Lyman Globe sight just to be able to lower the rear sight some and get some play either way.

The wood on your stock is definitely more interesting than what I got. Maybe that means my front sight will be good out of the box? I still haven’t made it to the “range” for any real shooting yet. I’ve just tried a couple of “quiet” rounds through it to see if any are quiet enough to shoot at my acreage without alerting the one neighbor (new one I haven’t met) that I occasionally shoot at home.
