CCI 40 grain maxi-mag VS CCI 35 grain A22 mag
CCI 40 grain maxi-mag VS CCI 35 grain A22 mag
Hey guys, quick question for anyone here with a Henry or other brand lever in 22 mag... (no bolt action)
Have any of you actually shot the CCI® A22 Mag - 35 grain ammo out of your levers?
If so, what did you find?
Thanks.

I found that when I pulled the trigger there was a bang and a 35 grain piece of lead exited the barrel and killed the squirrel that was in it's path. Squirrel seemed to be really, really relaxed when he hit the ground.
So I'd say they have a calming effect on squirrels, but that's just my un-scientific experience.
I have a feeling that you may be looking for something more quanitative

Welcome to my home..........FYI... that locked door you kicked down was for your protection....not mine.

LMAO, hahahaha. Well, I guess we can assume that those rounds work for what they were intended. That was funny, I needed that!

I've been wanting to try the 35gr A22 in my Remington 597 Magnum...it is very picky and does not seem to like 30gr rounds. 40 or 45gr loads tend to work well (but that is a semi-auto and beside the point).
My henry (Magnum pump) likes anything I feed it, but really likes the cheap federal "champion" 40gr round nose ammo. Hornady Critical Defense 45gr also work very well in the Henry. No-one local to me has the A22, and I don't really want to roll the dice on 200 rounds. If there was a 50 round box available, I would have tried it by now. If you do pick some up, let us know what you think.

I just use the Fiocchi 40 gr JHP in my Marlin. Shoots well and not as costly as others. Shell box rates at 1910 fps at the muzzle.

My .22 mag H001 TM is sighted in with iron sights at 50 yards using CCI 40 gr. maxi mag ammo. I have never used the A-22 ammo but I have used the CCI 30 gr V-Max poly tip ammo. In my rifle at 50yds, the 30 gr V-Max ammo shot about 1/2" lower than the 40 gr ammo.
I was very pleased with the V-Max ammo and purchased some more of it but the 40 gr. maxi mag is my normal .22 mag ammo.

Thanks guys. I was just curious as to price more than anything. I've always bought the CCI Max-Mag Troy Landry 200 round boxes in 40 grain, but ONLY when Cabela's has them on sale for 56 bucks for 200, including tax.
I was hoping A22 mag would be cheaper.
