Whenever I've price-shopped for a new Henry, I'd usually check at Buds Gun Shop in KY (online sales). For the most part, their gun prices have been lower than my LGS and most other web shops. A plus is that BGS doesn't charge for shipping, but of course you'll have to pay the FFL fee at the FFL dealer you ship to. The disadvantage to purchasing at BGS or any online shop is that a person cannot handle the rifle. That is where a walk-in LGS is a much better firearm-shopping venue.

If your GB .22 WMR is Henry model H004M, I looked at the online BGS price. It is today listed at $475. Of course you already know that Henry's web MSRP is $625.

I hope that other Henry owners of this model rifle might chime in on their purchasing experiences, and maybe more directly answer your question on "a good deal."

No matter where you finally purchase your GB, you will like it! :)

If I buy it I wanted to put a Skinner rear sight on. From what I read on their web site the only one that will work is the one you drive into rear sight dovetail. The one that screws hold it on they said it won't work. Does anyone know if this is true?

Im not sure about the skinner sights for that rifle but a call to skinner will get you the info you want. They are good people and they should be able to point you in the right direction. I might also add that if you didnt look at that rifle out of the box and throw it up to your shoulder, you might want to do that as the Golden Boy stock has a drop to it that does effect how you look at the sights. While I love the Golden boy for its looks it just doesnt fit me when shooting it because I need to raise my head up off the stock to obtain a sight picture. Just an FYI. Al

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

You can put a Skinner receiver sight on a Golden Boy, but you will need to have a gunsmith drill and tap the receiver. We did this for our Golden Boy 22LR and it makes for an excellent sight picture. Skinner can also drill and tap the receiver (for a fee) if you send it to them.

On my Evil Roy I put a skinner that screws on the barrel and it seems to work well.I know a receiver sight would give you a better sight picture.

I get to pick up my 22Mag from my LGS on Wednesday (California 10 day wait :-( ). I paid a bit more that most people do, but I was able to try it out and hold it before I bought it which is a plus.
