New H001

Post by tinnerjohn » Sat Mar 03, 2018 8:20 am

My son gave me a new H001 for Christmas, now that the weather is getting better I may finally get to shoot it. Any suggestions for needed cleaning/lube before I start burning ammo? I've had a lot of .22's but never a brand spanking new one. Almost don't want to shoot it! John

Shoot it! Just check the barrel for debris. To me they come with too much oil and I usually wipe the inside down. Taking the receiver cover off is easy. Just remove the tang screw to let the buttstock come off and then remove the four receiver screws. Pull the hammer back and it comes right off.

Welcome to the forum from CT, John. Sir Henry knows this rifle inside and out. Whenever he gives advice, I take it.

Please add your new rifle to our "How Many?" thread:

Welcome! I clean my bore sorta regularly, but othernthan that, Sir Henry is right. Shoot it!

Oh, once a year, I do take it apart and clean up he inside. Even that, Henry says is not necessary.

Welcome to the forum - I would clean that barrel before shooting your new H001 - you may be amazed at how much crud is in there. All nine of our Henrys had really dirty barrels when new. Henry makes a great 22LR rifle, but they don't really clean em before they ship em...
