SGR owners or anybody, a question

Post by The Wiz » Sun Feb 18, 2018 8:13 pm

The skinner aperture has came lose from the base. Does not seem to be made to screw down to tighten as there is not enough clearance between the housing and the mount. Also, what seemed to be an Allen screw on the right side for tightening is just a round hole maybe a rivet. Any thoughts?

There is supposed to be a small Allen screw on the starboard side of the sight base which holds the aperture stem when tightened. Try using an allen wrench on it - it may look like a small hole, but it's probably an allen socket...

That's what I thought but my smallest just spun and the next size up would not fit. I looked at it with a magnifying glass and I really didn't see any edges to catch a wrench. I will check tomorrow in the daylight instead by a lamp and see.

Probably time to get in touch with Henry CS - they might send you a new sight base if the screw is stripped...

More likely the screw is missing if you didn't tighten it after adjusting the sights. You could probably get one right from Skinner, too.

Called Henry, talk to Sandra. She will look and see if they have a screw laying around that would fit. If not, they will send a new sight.

Had not received as of yet. Called Henry to check status. The order was placed on the 19th, the day I called.
It won't be filled until tomorrow. She said they are pretty backed up in the inventory dept. She said I could expect it in about 5 to 6 days.
