Torque settings

Post by Redstickboy » Mon Jan 01, 2018 10:09 am

Is this important in regard to the disassembly/reassembly of the Henry H001T? If so, where can I get the correct values?

I asked Henry this question a few years ago and they did not give me the values in inch pounds, they just said "snug".

Thanks for the reply. "Snug" means a lot of different things to different people! Maybe I'll do snug then check the torque to "unsnug" them?

I agree but in this case I believe snug to mean less than twelve inch pounds.

Thanks for clearing that up! That doesn't seem like much but I am use to dealing with automobile engine components in FT/LBs. I have a gunsmith torque wrench on order so I will be able to get an idea of the lesser measurements.

With firearms you don't need the impact gun. :D

For me the most important thing is using the right tool, especially the screwdriver. They make nice sets with a bunch of bits in the handle, designed to just fill the various slots commonly found in gun screws.
The wrong screwdriver can chew the screwheads like vice grips on an axle nut, or worse, pop out and scratch the finish. Looks bad and cuts the resale value.
Screws that have to come out for regular cleaning should be no more than snug anyway. They're fine threads and lock in well without much torque.
