Re: New addition
Need some help choosing the ammo for it. I am not that familiar with .22 ammo. My parameters are that I will be shooting indoors for the most part. The range is 25 yards. I will not be hunting just putting holes in paper. My granddaughter and I will be trading rifles and hers is a Ruger .22. She is 15. Suggestions?

I like the Federal bulk auto-match with 40 grain lead bullets. I really like the looks of the Henry SGR. If I ever buy another Henry .22 - that would be my preferred choice.
ENJOY!!

Re: New addition
Congrats on an excellent little rifle - I bet you'll really like the skinner peep - put a Lyman Globe on the front end and you'll have the ultimate iron sight setup. Ours does well with CCI Standards.

Re: New addition
Yahoo, got the rifle last night. I love the look and feel. I did not get to the range and it does not look like I be able to get to know my new girl ( all my rifles are girls, pistols are guys) until Monday. The shop owner gave me 100 rounds of CCI standards to get me started. She said that's all I need for the shooting I will be doing. Good call Tractortad.

Re: New addition
Wow! shot the new addition and I was really impressed with the Skinner Peeps. The site picture was so much better for these old eyes. Used the cci's standards that my gun lady fronted me and had no issues at all. The rifle felt so sweet and balanced. The action was smooth and slick with nice sound to it as cycled. My first 4 rounds were group horizontal to the right and high in the second circle. I relaxed and took a breath and put the next nine in the bulls eye. That was at fifteen yards. Move the target back to 25 yards and just lost myself in shooting, reloading until I burn thru a 100 rounds. Heaven
I brought the .357 to show the gun to one of the clerks who had not seen one in person and wasn't going to shoot it but I was so zoned into the moment of shooting I popped off all the ammo I had for the bb(9 rounds). Of course, now I had to clean two guns but that comes with the territory.
Showed both rifles to the clerk, Alex and his immediate comment was about how great the sight picture was on both especially on the SGR with the peeps. I was basking in his praise of the Henry's. Really liked the octagon barrels.
I would post pictures but I am not so good at that. I seem to be challenged in that area.
All and all, it was a good day
