How large are the taters, compared to the average group size you are able to shoot at 100 yards?

If your rifle can shoot two inch groups at 100 yards and the taters are three or four inches in diameter, you are either pulling your shots, there is wind you aren't allowing for, or the zero is off.

That is my long-distance diagnosis, without examining the patient! :)

I know that my ability to do everything exactly the same on every shot .... so, I must introduce some variability in the point of impact .... thusly, when I'm trying determine if my rifle likes a load and/or sighting in a scope, I find its best to lock the rifle in place and remove myself from the equation .... I use a Caldwell Lead Sled but I'm sure there are other ways of doing so .... once I know how the rifle groups at a given distance, I then try to see how close I can come to duplicating it

I bought a lead sled and found I couldn't shoot very good using it. Yes I could hold it in the sled steady and get the same aim every time but found when I pulled the trigger I couldn't hold it in place.

they certainly do take some getting used to .... I find that having them sitting on a rock solid base helps and you have to take your time
