It's one reason for hoods over the front sight. A hood will allow for more consistent visibility on the front sight. Of course, a red dot or a scope takes that issue out of the equation.
This little Henry does have a hood, but still a lot of glare for me in certain bright light. At the outdoor range I go to, the 100 yard range faces south. On sunny days the glare can play havoc with the sights on my Big Boy. The fiber optic front sight available from Henry may fix this issue with the .22.

New member here so just found this thread. Congrats on buying the Henry. I just bought my first one as well. One range trip and "love at first shoot".
Interesting talk about the 10/22. I "needed" to have one partly because they are so popular. Sold it and bought a Marlin 60. More accurate than the 10/22 from my experience. I wouldn't trade the Marlin for 2 10/22's. Can't customize the Marlin as much but I believe it is a much better rifle.

C'mon everyone! These are affordable guns... Get BOTH!! The 10/22 is an iconic rifle and the Henry is a fun rifle. Get 'em both!

I would go with the 60 also, if just for the micro-grove barrel.

I have an old squirrel stocked Glenfield in my safe I can shoot anytime, so no reason to buy, but I just like the Marlins.

Hi,
I am half qualified to answer your question as I have just traded in my 10/22 to buy a Henry H001 but have yet to get and shoot the Henry.
However, I do have a Rossi 1892 .357 which is far, far more enjoyable to shoot than the Ruger.
A semi auto rifle is a tool to do a job whereas a lever rifle is an experience to be enjoyed and it feels far more natural to operate a lever than say a bolt action.

I had both rugers the 10-22 and the American bolt action. The American went back to ruger twice for repairs sold it after 2 months.
I had no real problems with the 10-22 then I decided on the Henry H001L, well that did it! Sold the ruger also, Henry was more fun to shoot.
Being old school I guess I watched too many old westerns in my day. Besides I never saw John Wayne,or any of them other western guys using semi auto's. :D

John Wayne's favorite semi-auto rifle was a M1 Carbine. At least that's what I remember him carrying in his WWII movies.
Of course he had a M16 ln Green Berets.

Dang. I don't like hearing that about the Ruger American Rimfire. I have one back order at Cabela's.
