Soule/Vernier Base

I am wanting to put Soule type sight on my H001 Frontier. Anyone done this? I'm looking at the MVA #134, but I can't figure out which base to order. Contacted MVA and they said they were not familiar with the gun. Any base recommendations or maybe another sight?

I have a friend that was talking about doing that this past year, not sure if he ever did.
Let me see if he did so and what he used if he did.

Don’t you think a full sized vernier sight would sort of visually overwhelm that compact rifle? It would look out of proportion IMHO. Do you plan to do long distance shooting, or is the rifle a wall hanger?

These tang sights look very cool on a big gun, but they are also really intrusive for your strong hand. I imagine that a rimfire rifle would be an even more troublesome application.

Most of us think that Matthew Quigley is beyond a doubt the coolest cowboy that ever lived on the screen, but notice how he has to grip the stock. Talk about awkward…

With it folded backwards, even more so.. Which is why he normally carries the detached sight in a belt pouch. I am sure he wouldn’t have used it if he weren’t professionally employed to nail varmints at 500 to 1000 yards.

OTH Augustus McRae, the second greatest screen cowboy IMHO, can do that with a Henry 1860.

One of those 1860's in 45 colt would be fun, maybe some day.

I have a less expensive Lyman sight on my Marlin Cowboy in 38-55.
Yes you have to adjust your hand a bit differently, but it isn't bad.
I have also pondered a Henry Frontier, but in 22 mag. and thought a tang sight would be a cool feature.
Plus would give me more time with this type of sight.
I have a friend who shoots out to 900+ yds with these sights on rifles chambered in 45 colt and 38-55.

That is a memorable scene. I like how Woodrow, who knows exactly what this is leading to, just smiles a trace and steps back to give Gus room, loosens his jacket a little and watches the nearby gamblers. Great series, I need to rewatch it. I have the remastered Collector's Edition Bluray set and it is much better quality than the first release: 1080p HD, Surround Sound and most importantly widescreen! Widescreen completely changes the feel of the story. And Silverado…. Must watch again.
