Spring has sprung. Get out and shoot your Henry

Scope size
I've been shooting Henry rifles for about 12 years now, mostly rimfire. But in the beginning only open sights on my rifles would do (yes my eyes were a bit better then), but then I decided a small scope would look and work well...and it did. Scopes on lever guns just don't look right I thought, but as time goes by my scopes are getting bigger on these lever rifles. I recently mounted a Vortex 4-12x40 on my H001M and it's perfect for this rifle as I shoot out past 100 yards on a regular basis. So what say yee, who's got a big scope on their Henry rifle?

Re: Scope size
I just took a Pine Ridge 17 caliber specific 4-18x40 off of an H001V. I didn’t take it off because it was too big but rather because it was too cheap.

Re: Scope size
Nope, 40 is too big for a lever gun. I use that size, or larger, on a bolt action, but for a lever gun or single shot rifle it just looks wrong. I have a Leupold 3-7x33 on my BBX .44 Mag and it looks just right.

Re: Scope size
I'd love to have that Vortex on my Rem. 700 , 22-250. 12 power max is just about right, anything more and mirage plays with your eyes. Used to have a scope on it with 18 power but sold it but I was able to nail groundhogs between the eyes at 360 yards , the length of my hayfield, as they just popped their little heads out of their hole. It sports a 3-9x now. As we get older, we have to use what we need to in order to make meat.

Re: Scope size
Hey you old farts, I only have a 2-7x Nikon on 44 mag. Henry. Just kidding. Kind of hard seeing the bull even with that with this cataract that need removed. Good grief. I don't know what happened with tis picture. Lol, my Henry really ain't that short.
I'm trying a different picture but it is of my 45-70 Guide Gun. I didn't reduce the size like I did the pic of the Henry 44 mag. I see that showed up better.

Re: Scope size
When you resize you need to check the "Proportional" box when you reduce the width or height. That will retain the original proportions of the pic.Team Roper wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 11:03 amHey you old farts, I only have a 2-7x Nikon on 44 mag. Henry. Just kidding.
