Re: Are pumps .22 as fun as lever .22?
I've always thought that if pump rifles had appeared in the Old West, sooner, they might have been as popular as lever guns are today. For sure, pump rifles were more popular back when I started shooting than they are now. Never owned a Henry, but I have been fortunate to own one of the great classic pump 22s in the Winchester Model 61. Fun rifles to shoot, for sure. Back in the day, the Remington centerfire pump rifles were very popular for deer hunting in this area.

I have a Winchester 61 and it keeps going between the stack that I want to sell and the stack I want to keep. The action is a lot smoother than the Henry pump but that would be expected for a 70 year old firearm compared to a new one.

The Winnie 61 and 62 were about as good as it gets in construction quality and, being a Winchester, you should get top dollar if yours is in good shape. Still a very sought after Winchester. Not unusual for one in mint shape to bring 1K.

I would have preferred the 62 because of the exposed hammer. My 61 certainly isn’t mint but it is in excellent condition. I put it back in the sell pile along with the 9422LR. The 9422M was already there and my friend in Texas claimed the 9410.

Yes, but you don't look as cool as you do with a lever gun. . .

A lot of folks don't know that the Winchester 61 was the first rifle that W.R.A. made in the then new .22 W.M.R. I took my Henry pump to the range today and used my Speed D Loader. I put 34 shots in a space that you could cover with a quarter at ten yards. I have a Marlin 39 but the Henry pump gets shot a lot more.

Love both types. The pump carries easily in one hand.

That Rossi is sleek. I'll bet it's easy to carry. All nice.
