Nice! Strikes me as a variation you see of "two-tones" in the semi-auto handgun world.

So, all the way down to the stainless (it is stainless, right, not an alloy??).? Did you apply a clearcoat?

It is actually Zamak, an alloy.
I just stripped the paint with paint stripper, wet sanded with 2500, then 3k grit and buffed it with Mother's aluminum polish.
It still isn't perfect as far as a mirror finish goes, but I'm not done either! Haha!
Once I get it perfect I will clear it, as it is, after a couple weeks it gets a neat patina.
Easily rubbed back out, I leave it that way for a while then buff it back out when I'm ready for something different.

Like the other commenters, really nice work on the wood, that and bringing out the Zamak does make it really unique.

I'm curious to know how you knew the receiver was made from Zamak?

No kidding!!! Zamak sounds like a planet from a Superman comic book.

Please tell us more.

Might not want to know the generic name, not very flattering.

In addition to knowing how badrat knew the receiver was Zamak, I'm also curious about which alloy of Zamak. Base Zamak (zinc/aluminum/manganese) is brittle. Copper and nickle are added in a variety of ratios to strengthen depending on the end purpose.

I actually read about the material on here, then confirmed it with Henry. I knew it was some sort of alloy just wasn't sure what exactly. Thank you all again for the kind words!

I had to read your post a few times. So this is the better replacement wood that Henry sells? And then you refinished it?
I agree with you on wanting to make it your own. Turned out great! Good job!

Nice job on the rifle and stock. I wonder if all the stocks have that kind of grain.
