1st impression shooting my new Small Game Carbine (H001TLP)

Last week I bought a Small Game Carbine in 22LR. I've been looking at them for quite a while and finally made the purchase. I got out to the desert today to shoot it a bit. Nothing formal just some plinking at cans.... my favorite way to shoot.
Any way I must say WOW, I love this gun! The skinner peep site is much easier for my eyes to see. It seemed to hit everything I pointed it at. It fed and ejected everything just fine. Shot some Long Rifle and Shorts through it. Silky smooth action! I have several other Henry's, but this is my first with a large loop, I liked it! This SGC just might become my favorite Henry.

Excellent way to spend time breaking in a new gun. Wish we had wide open space in this neck of the woods. The SGC is definitely on my list of gotta have one of those guns.

That kind of shooting is still my favorite, even though it doesn't make much for show and tell in a range report. As I get older, I place more and more value on an easy to shoot gun like your new Henry. Wish more dealers carried Henry in our area. Have never even seen on of those SGCs.

They are hard to find around me too. I did see a 22mag SGC at Cabala's in person, but I wanted a 22LR. I ended up buying it from another gun shop online and having it shipped. I'm glad a finally did.
If I have a little more time on my next outing, I will do some paper shooting.

Add a Lyman Globe to the front end of that SGC and you'll have even more fun - they work fantastic with Skinner peep sights - almost like a low power scope...

Glad you like your SGC, NoFlyZone.....and I agree that you made a great choice in selecting this Henry.

I got my SGC in March 2016, and it is a well-balanced, accurate, and smooth-as-silk lever gun. I love shooting mine, too. I have some Forum Range Reports posted about my shooting the SGC. Dale, I'm totally envious. It must be great to be able to drive out to the desert and enjoy a good plinking session .... especially with a Henry in your hands.

I have a receiver mounted Skinner on my H001T, and it's great, even for my worn out Mk1 eyeballs.

Hey Les, yes we are lucky that way. It's still pretty HOT in Az right now, so we just go at sun up for a couple hours.

I liked the photos of your SGC, NoFlyZone. And particularly I enjoyed the one you took of the barrel's sight picture. I've tried and tried and cannot get one as perfect as you took!

And your photos reminded me that I made one adjustment to my peep sight. I contacted Andy Larsson at Skinner and asked if they could make me a special-order bronze peep identical to the blued one on my SGC. I wanted to add some Henry bronze "color" to my carbine. Well, Andy did a great job with that request. Here are a couple of pics, which I posted last October. It's a small adjust, but to me it has brightened up the looks of this sharp-looking Henry rifle! It was fun to do.

Ahhh yes, I remember the pics of your's now. I remember reading about it when I was search all I could find on the SGC's. I love the extra bronze on the sight on your's. Looks great!

I've been looking at the H001TLP for months. After reading this, I am jealous and need to "do it". Sportsmanguide has them for $378.......I just may do it.

I got an SGC in .22LR a couple of years ago and liked it so much that I bought a twin in .22WM. My wife and I love shooting both and we find them to accurate, balanced and smooth right out of the box. Enjoy!
