HSM ammo

Post by markiver54 » Wed Nov 14, 2018 12:34 pm

Wondering if anyone has had experience with the HSM 180 grain lead RNFP gas check " bear load" in 357. Have not shot any yet. Are there any concerns to be considered when using in my BBS ?

Couldn't say on the loaded ammo but their bullets are top notch and I load with them exclusively.

Before I sold my BBB .357 Magnum, I shot practice rounds of HSM Bear Ammo 158gr LRN FPGC through it. No problems that I can recall. Sorry that I can't directly speak to the 180gr ammo you have.

Have you made the same inquiry to Henry? It would be interesting to learn if they have any cautions on this ammo.

I haven't tried their 357 ammo .... what I can tell you is their 45-70 Cowboy Action and Dangerous Game loads are very good ..... if I was going fire factory ammo, theirs would be at the top or my list

I use the HSM 180 bear loads in my Kimber revolver when carrying in the woods. Have had great accuracy, as in target grade accuracy, with this load, not just in the Kimber, but other 357 revolvers, as well. Have no idea what the load will do in a Henry, but I really like it in my revolvers.

Thank you NCG. I guess that tells me they're safe in my Smith. Was wondering about that as well.

Just got a response from Thomas at Henry. He said " There should be no problem with OAL or pressure and depending on how much of a flat point they have, would be no problem. I'd try a box to ensure reliable feeding before investing in a quantity" unquote; Yeah!! Good 'ol Henry tech. support.
